Job Description
The primary responsibility is the development and execution of a comprehensive sales plan to fully support sales through independent pet retail accounts. The successful candidate will be emerged in a high-performance team environment as they collectively work towards achieving company goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and implement own territory business plan in line with corporate strategy and work within
agreed budgets, outline tactics, activities and resources.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of pet products, competitor products and product objectives
• Attend local trade shows, open houses, and training seminars
• Utilize customer-focused selling techniques, continually assessing the knowledge of the customer and
strategy to maintain high-level customer focus and customer knowledge of products.
• Execute the promotional sales plan while staying within trade spend budget
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of independent channel distribution
• Actively seek and display knowledge of key customers in territory
• Develop and deliver informative sales presentations based on customer needs
• Develop creative sales strategies to reach challenging retailers (ie “hard-to-see”/” hard-to-work”)
• Present compelling and educational product trainings
• Maximize revenue and market share of services to achieve/exceed targeted goals
Qualifications
• Preferred: BS Degree or higher
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
• Ability to: travel 50% of the time & work evenings/weekends required to build sales
• Ability to cover multiple states under the current distribution areas of coverage
• 3 Years of outside sales experience required - background in pet specialty retailers preferred
• Essential Core Competencies: Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Priority Setting, Intellectual
Horsepower, Drive for Results, Highly Developed Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Extensive
Organizational Skills
• Strong work ethic, with a professional and proactive demeanor
