Our Finance team plays a critical role in supporting a growing global business. With multiple entities, systems, currencies, and plenty of moving parts, there’s always an interesting challenge to solve. This opportunity has been created to backfill a key team member who is moving into a critical ERP project, ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality financial insight and support across an 18-month period.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant looking to step into a role with strong technical accounting exposure, genuine ownership, and broad commercial impact.

You’ll take ownership across the full financial accounting cycle — from month-end close and group consolidations through to tax compliance, audit, financial reporting, and process improvement. You’ll work closely with finance colleagues and stakeholders across our global business, providing accurate financial information, challenging the numbers where needed, and helping improve the way we operate.

You’ll be someone who enjoys getting into the detail, understanding what sits behind the numbers, and finding solutions when things don’t quite add up. Just as importantly, you’ll have the confidence to question, influence, and work with stakeholders across a complex global organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver key elements of the month-end close process, including preparation and review of financial statements

• Perform and review group consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and associated reconciliations

• Prepare insightful financial commentary and analysis for month-end and stakeholder reporting

• Manage and support NZ tax compliance, with consideration of global entity requirements

• Investigate complex financial issues and discrepancies, applying sound accounting judgement to resolve them

• Review and strengthen financial controls, processes, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy

• Maintain data integrity across finance systems, including imports, exports, reconciliations, and system interfaces

• Partner with finance and non-finance stakeholders globally to gather, validate, and challenge financial information

• Lead or contribute to audit processes, ensuring the business is well prepared and audit ready

• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve financial reporting and accounting processes

About You

We’re looking for a technically strong accountant who is comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and enjoys working through complex financial issues.

You’ll ideally bring:

• CA qualified or equivalent professional accounting qualification

• Significant experience in financial accounting within a complex commercial environment

• Strong technical accounting capability, including group consolidations, intercompany accounting, and audit

• Experience working across multiple entities, ideally within a multinational or global organisation

• Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles, with the ability to apply judgement to complex issues

• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across multiple financial systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with a genuine curiosity for understanding the “why” behind the numbers

• The confidence to challenge information, identify risks, and influence stakeholders

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across finance and the wider business

• A proactive, pragmatic approach with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through

Big 4 or Top Tier training would be advantageous, particularly where this has provided a strong technical accounting foundation.
